Buyers keep lifting the lows and price keeps slipping

Delta has swung about 11,000 contracts to buyers since 10:00, yet the 11:45 period printed a new low at 7776.50. Buyers are paying up into a seller who is not moving.

Who holds territory

Sellers

Passive sellers hold the ground where today's value is building. They have taken every lift since 10:15 without giving ground. They capped the 10:45 bounce at 7800.75, and each bar since has topped out lower.

Who is offside

Buyers who lifted the lows

Anyone who bought the 7783–7800 range from 10:15 onward. Their buying swung delta by about 11,000 contracts and got one bounce for it. Price now sits under the 7786.50 POC of the value they built.

Sold from the first print

Four sessions into the excursion above the 10–17 Sep balance, today has traded back to the August complex's lower edge at 7777.75. The open at 7823.50 was within three points of the day's high. Sellers drove the first half hour for 5,183 contracts of net selling. The initial balance settled at 7778.00–7826.25, a 48-point range that still holds 97% of the day.

Bars are bucketed to approximate distribution shape only. Every labelled price — POC, VAH, VAL, and the levels at right — is the exact tick-level value, not a bucket midpoint.

Today's trade sits between Monday's 7793.75 value low and the August complex floor at 7777.75, which the 11:45 period broke by 1.25 points.

One reclaim, then lower highs

The drive broke Monday's 7793.75 value low in the 10:00 bar and bottomed at 7778.00 in the 10:15 bar. Buyers answered at 10:45 with the day's strongest period, +4,457 delta, which carried price to 7800.75 and closed it back above 7793.75.

The reclaim lasted one bar. The 11:00 bar closed back under 7793.75, and every bar since has made a lower high, from 7797.50 down to 7787.00.

Nobody has tried to extend the range upward. Downside extension is 1.5 points so far: the 11:45 period took out the IB low at 7776.50, under the complex floor. Today's value sits at 7779.50–7797.75, almost all of it below Monday's.

Buying that buys nothing

Delta and price have split. Cumulative delta bottomed at −5,238 in the 10:00 bar and has run to +5,983. Over the same stretch price fell from 7790.50 to 7780.50.

That is aggressive buying absorbed by resting offers. At 10:15, +3,205 came in while price fell 7.75 points. At 11:30, +2,159 lifted it 1.25. Sellers have not needed to hit a bid since 10:00.

The buyers who lifted 7785–7800 after 10:45 are long below today's POC and have no bid under them until the lows.

The bear branch is live and unchallenged

The 08:05 primary died at 10:00 when 7793.75 broke, which also triggered its bear branch. That branch fails only above 7810.50, and the best bounce since, 7800.75, stalled nearly 10 points short. Its first objective, 7762.50, is 14 points under the current low. The morning's 7839 trigger and 7850.25 shelf are out of reach today.

Sellers win by standing still

Sellers are in control by absorbing, without having to press. The buyers who lifted the lows are offside under 7786.50.

What argued for the primary

  • New low at 7776.50 despite +5,983 cumulative delta
  • Lower highs in every bar since 11:00

What argued against

  • No aggressive selling since 10:00
  • The IB low broke by only 1.5 points

What decided it

Buying that cannot lift price is supply in disguise.

The rest of the session

The complex floor gives

Primary

The absorbed buying unwinds. Acceptance under 7769 brings the 08:05 bear objective at 7762.50 into play, then the 7746.75 August complex low. A move back above today's 7797.75 value high ends it.

Alternate

Sellers take one more leg below 7772 and run out, which rescues the trapped longs. A reclaim of Monday's 7793.75 targets yesterday's 7810.50 low, then its value low.

What to watch

  • 7777.75 The complex floorBroken by 1.25 points. If price holds below it and delta finally turns negative, sellers have started pressing.
  • 7793.75 Monday's value lowReclaimed at 10:45 and lost by 11:00. A second close above it on positive delta frees the trapped longs.
  • 7762.50 The 08:05 bear objective14 points under the current low. It is the first place the absorbed buyers are likely to give up.

What this is, and what it is not

This is a context gauge — the climate a discretionary decision gets made inside. It is not a trigger, a signal, or a trade.

Mechanical order-flow entry signals do not survive out-of-sample testing, and nothing here should be treated as one. The value of a read like this is subtractive: it tells you which levels matter, which side is already committed, and when to stand down — not when to click.

Every figure above is computed rather than estimated. The synthesis is machine-written from a fixed analytical framework and reviewed before publication — how these are made. Framework v1.5 (d485b3a+)

A read like this, before every session

The pre-market read is published pre-open. Same structure every time: what the auction did, what it is trying to do, how well it is doing it, and what it is likely to do next.
